All Updates since the launch of TRA2 on August 13th, 2019 (and some before public release) will be detailed here. You can find a copy of them in the Arcanists Discord server as well. All patch notes have been provided by pur3 extreme.

July 16, 2024 - v7.1a (Hotfix)[]

Bug Fixes:

- Steam users do not have to verify their discord to talk/play rated games

- Can throw tomatoes

- Syncing across servers should be fixed (If you have problems reach out to the team)

July 15, 2024 - v7.1[]

Additions:

- Steam release!

- In-game store (work in progress)

- Basic controller support (only tested on Windows with an XBOX 360 controller)

- Added hotkeys to select the next/previous spell (more so for controller support)


Bug Fixes:

- Fixed Abduction's collision detection (wasn't rotating properly)

May 3, 2024 - v7.0[]

Bug Fixes:

- Fixed a bug involving Duplication Armageddon (it also only uses Illusion + Arcane spells, independent of the player's book)

- Fixed a bug involving Santa's Magic when teleporting out of the water

- Spell Selection will now display the correct names for minion's spells

- Reverted the minimum camera position change from the last patch

- Account icons will be in the context menu again

- Glide will show as active for opponents on the first turn

May 2, 2024 - v6.9[]

Balance Updates:

- Arcane Glyphs will now stop the caster from being knocked back

- Arcane Glyphs can now be placed in a small circle around the caster (similar to summoning a minion)

- Spear will no longer die due to damage before it hits something

- Blood Bank hp changed from 20 to 25 and can now heal off of damage to targets with protection shield

- Exploding Pinecone turn availability changed from turn 1.5 to turn 1

- New Year's Rocket turn availability changed from turn 2 to turn 1

- Supernova damage slightly increased


Additions:

- Original Arcanists font brought back & made the current pixel font a 3rd option

- Player panel name color is now toggleable (for visibility reasons). The player panel toggles can also be done via the top-left corner of the game screen

- Camera can't go down as far


Bug Fixes:

- Fixed issues with boar desyncing replays

- Boar will no longer stun the caster at the start of the turn

April 19, 2024 - v6.8[]

Balance Updates:

- Grove Renewal will not die to damage

- Gargoyle can heal in the sun once again

- Fixed a bug involving Snow Globe

- Fixed a bug involving infection on towers

- Fixed a bug where players could walk off the map without falling

- Undid the buggy 'less likely to get stuck while walking' movement which allowed you to walk through things you previously couldn't

- Grove Renewal will now last more than 2 turns when in a multiplayer game

April 13, 2024 - v6.7[]

Balance Updates:

- First Turn Advantage: Added a half variable for turns till first use. Spells with half turns are rounded up for player 1 and down for player 2

- The following spells have been changed to have the half turn variable in use: Shock Bomb, Blood Lust, Summon Pixies, Summon Water Trolls, Exploding Pinecone, and New Year's Rocket

- Summon Monarchs initial turn availability changed from turn 1 to turn 2

- Whisper Arrow initial turn availability changed from turn 1 to turn 2

- Vine bomb will now generate more flowers without the familiar

- Thorns will now auto-detonate after 20 turns

- Volley now shoots 2 more arrows per elf

- Ice Bomb area of effect lowered and its shards have been changed to be evenly spaced instead of random

- Comet's shards are now evenly spaced instead of random (with a random angle offset, and will behave differently when contacting someone in flight)

- Sunder's damage classification changed to light damage (will still not damage allies)

- If an overlight minion had a shield in the same attack as it would turn undead, it instead dies

- Liches, Angels, and Apparitions can now use spells obtained from Presents!

- The default max minions you can steal by turning undead upped from 3 to 4

- You can now detower while in the water if you are in an Arcane Tower (must use the detower hotkey)

- Snowball changed to deal more damage to the caster at close range

- Blood Bank hp lowered from 40 to 20, heal changed to 20% (all damage accurately heals 20%, instead of damage like snowball healing 50%)

- Gargoyle will no longer heal while in direct sunlight and can be turned undead while in stone form

- Collision Course now has a 5 turn cooldown (previously it had no cooldown)

- Wormhole and Abduction's places swapped within the Book of Cosmos (Wormhole is now the level 1 to Abduction being the level 2)

- Wormhole and Arcane Portal now share a cooldown

- Bombs can once again stick to players (like it was before except not including terrain)

- Shooting Stars direction is now random in LTS

- Phantom rework: Cannot be summoned in terrain, has collision on summon and whenever it attacks (until its next turn)

-Autumn Leaves now disable nearby leaves whenever they are activated (this deactivation has a 2 second delay)

- Morning Sun will be deactivated by friendly units (still won't damage them)

- Snow Globe within the Book of Seasons has been replaced with Tree House

- Reduced the knockback on New Year's Rocket

- Mechanical Arrow will no longer prematurely detonate on the first turn

- If you activate your familiar (this includes elementals): any turn 2 spells for that book that do not deal damage will become available on the first turn

- 8s in the LTS queue is now 7s

- Turn-ending spells will use at least 2 seconds of the clock when cast

- The game no longer locks you from switching minions when something is going on (such as a minion moving)

- Portal is no longer always after every other effector on the start of a turn: It instead is inserted into each player's list, so that whichever effector was created first will be activated first

- Full Nature familiar: Extra spell uses removed, perk replaced by vine bridge's max distance increasing per level

- Giants' Mountains default width increased by 30%

- Phantom is no longer restricted in Random Spells

- Spells like Collision Course, Comet, Fissure, etc. will no longer ignore the caster's collision on the first several frames


Additions:

-Replaced the Book of the Wilds with the Book of Druidism

-Added Checkers, Join31, and Rock Paper Scissors The Board Game to the playable minigames

- Non-shuffled rated games do not have a cap on rating difference (however, the calculated teams' average rating scales linearly from the real teams' average rating to the highest rate dplayers rating - maxing out at 500 rating)

- Transparent chatbox (toggleable with a slider)

- Adjustable chatbox line count

- New spell slot backgrounds (toggleable)

- New player panel (toggleable)

- The spell bar will become transparent instead of going off screen (transparency slider)

- Added several outfits

- Added a Dense Fog armageddon, parallel to the rising lava armageddon and works the same mechanically, but starts from the top of the map instead

- Mobile can move the camera when a spell is not selected (you can still also move the camera with 3 fingers even with a spell selected)

- Assignable minion hotkeys default to the given minion index (1 being the player) and can be changed in the controls menu

- Backslash '\' will write a note in the chatbox (for you) only. Team chat '/' will defualt to a note when in a non-team game


Bug Fixes:

- The ol' Swaparoo will now turn blue when it will swap places with something else

-The border of Kharazi Jungle when its height/width are not 100% will now be properly aligned

- Sanctuary bubble is now layered behind terrain so it will not hide what's under it (A transparent layer is still above to try and make it look better)

- Storm spirit recasting storm shield/spirit shield will work properly

- Casting imp destruction while an imp is less than 10 hp will now create at least 1 arcane arrow

- Fixed an issue with familiars being charged up to level 10 when taking control in replays

- Fixed an issue where spell restrictions could not be modified while a lobby is in tournament mode

- Infection will not be negated by standing on a Forest Seed

- Tutorial: Pegasus Mounting should not glitch out

- Tutorial: Cyclops will not have a white square over them

- Replays: F1 changed to F4 to not interfere with pings & pressing ESC while resyncing a replay will not freeze the client

- Replay turn order should be preserved when taking control

- Several custom armageddon fixes

- Loading settings in a rated lobby will not force it into an unrated lobby

- Fixed several desync issues with Autumn Leaves

- Fixed a server crash involving Infection

- When a minion switches teams, its turn availability will be adjusted to acocunt for 'double' turns in team games

- Spell Restrictions: If only an elemental is restricted, it will still show as being restricted

- The following achievements will now have their progress saved between server resets: Page Turner, Finally Did It, Master of Arcanists

- Steam Dragon's health text is now properly updated when created from an Arcane Dragon Egg + Clockwork Bomb

- Swallowing Pit when cast by a duplicate will now be registered as the player casting it due to the minion being destroyed in the process

- Players should now be less likely to get stuck while walking

- Players should no longer fall through 1px terrain clusters

- Dwarf using the miner map will now be stunned if applicable

December 17, 2023 - v6.5[]

Additions:

- Better rounding for high score percentages and the option to change the precision has been added

- Added icons to better represent each rated ladder

- Added a tournament participant role so that tournament participants can set the tournament game mode without a Tournament Organizer present


Bug Fixes:

- Fixed 15s time mode games not being able to be played

- The displayed average rating of games now averages out the rating for the two players within the rated ladder that they are playing on

- Fixed the map terrain rendering order

- Fixed some spelling errors

- Fixed a bug involving searching don't mind to all options in the rated queue and individual ladders

- Fixed a bug involving the statistics of team games played

- Fixed a bug involving first turn and first turn win rate in the statistics

- Fixed mobile controls not clicking through

- Typing in the emoji popup will no longer cause game inputs

- Fixed instances where soul jar and leaves were not falling

- Due to a wand glitch all current prestige progress has been set to 100% for that level


December 9, 2023 - v6.4[]

Balance updates:

- Leap has better vertical jump (same as patch 6.3) but less horizontal jump (same as hotfix 6.3b)

- Water ball damage after skimming the water increased from 90 to 120

- Full stone only provides resistance to towers on the first cast of each tower (denoted by an icon next to your health)

- Abduction changed from infinite uses to 4 uses


Additions:

- The rating ladder has been split into 3 categories

a) Low time standard (8-20 seconds), no additional game modes

b) High time standard (30-90 seconds), no additional game modes

c) Party Mode (8-90 seconds), all game modes that there are currently (Random Spells, Elementals, etc.)

- You can now search in the rated queue while in the lobby

- Rated queue settings will now be broadcast in the lobby (optional) similar to unrated/team games

- Added the ability to use emojis while in-game and/or spectating

- 8 new achievements

- Outfits galore

- Added the ability for game lobbies to pick custom armageddon spells

- A tournament store (tournament outfits can now be bought with tournament coins)


Bug Fixes:

- Chat messages with multiple emojis will no longer be ignored

- Left food render order fixed

- Summon Titan is no longer castable while already at max minions


November 15, 2023 - v6.3b Hotfix[]

Balance updates:

- Water ball recoil damage reduced (which also means the water bounce damage is increased)

- Leap's max range reduced by around 10%

November 7, 2023 - v6.3[]

Balance updates:

- Abduction will no longer work outside of the border

- Trees can no longer be moved up/down and have gravity applied to them by Abduction

- Abducted minions can no longer phase through another minion

- Meteor damage toned down a little

- Water Ball: Initial explosion now does 30 damage instead of 6, and creates 15 droplets that do 2 damage each instead of 18 droplets that do 3 damage each

- Adjusted logic for spawns in 1v1s

- Added a graphic for the frist turn sink mechanic "First Turn Bubble"

- Bombs will now fall when they should fall (side-ish sticks will still be possible for those with good aim, just not from underneath)

- Portal grabbing made a little harder

- Disruption will do reduced damage if used turn 1


Bug Fixes:

- Napalm should no longer accidentally disable flame shield when simply walking next to it

- Fixed an issue with Storm Shield knock back introduced in the last patch (it should have only affected creatures hit in the direct middle)

- Fixed a possible error when Autumn Leaves are removed from play

- Fixed users in Shining Power not moving when damaged

- Fixed the boat icon

- Fixed Donator/Audio Wizard/Glide visuals on resync/spectate

- Holding alt while using Summon Titan or Resurrection will now work properly

- Beards will render correctly in the lobby. Old outfits will set beard 2/3 to 0 and tooltips will show up when selecting those slots

- Pings will now show up underwater

- Fixed the stuttering when walking over an edge while heading out of bounds

- The Protection Shield cap is now properly validated

- Fixed some outfit rendering issues

- If you use Floating Castle while standing on the water you will now float up


Changes:

- XP will roll over to the next level

- Prestige 1 will now start with 50 wands as well (like prestige 0)

- When you prestige, you will now get to pick an additional book to have unlocked alongside Arcane/Flame/Cogs

November 1, 2023 - v6.2[]

Balance updates:

- Vine Whip damage radius changed to no longer damage from behind

- Level 3 aerial spells (Comet/Meteor) will now always have the ability to have their direction controlled in all time modes

- Knockback on flying units will now cause them to bounce off ceilings (not from movement input)

- Autumn Leaves no longer creates terrain. Instead, it will damage enemies on contact and friendly units will ignore them. They are also now affected by explosive forces such as Breeze and Hurricane (Note: for the time being, you can hold alt to use the old terrain generating leaves)

- Morning Sun will no longer harm teammates

- Snowman's Melt will no longer end your turn

- Spear Throw damage increased to ramp up in damage much more quickly, and the minimum damage has been increased from 25 to 50

- Ongoing spells will now pause the turn timer (particularly useful for using non-turn ending spells in low time format games)

- Hydration now heals trolls based off of the percentage of the trolls' current health (the trolls maximum health stays the same at 100/200)

- Water ball spread reduced to make it better at digging

- At the start of a turn, portals trigger after a player's effectors (such as aura)

- Ice Bomb turn availability changed from turn 2 to turn 4

- Ice Bomb's damage is now more reliable - its damage output increased from 205 maximum to 250 and stuffing can now do 155 maximum damage instead of 85.

- Color Spray turn availability changed from turn 2 to turn 4

- Minion Book reworked: You no longer get additional minions anymore, only the minions you bring except for Level 3s. You can only summon a maximum of two level 3 minions within the minion book using the spell: Summon Titan

- Santa's Magic base uses increased from 1 to 4

- Abduction cooldown increased from 3 to 5

- Abduction reworked: Is now usable on players, but applies gravity if they are not flying. It uses a cricle cast for collision instead of a line cast and comes from a chosen points around the player instead of directly from the player

- Gravity now makes the target weigh more (meaning they will not fly as far due to explosions)

- Quake's strength increased - now has a larger variance in how it throws players/minions around

- Disruption damage increased to be able to do up to 125 damage but may not be as good at stuffing

- Vine Bloom increased from 1 use to 2 uses, with a 5 turn cooldown

- Meteor direct damage and digging capabilities increased

- Protection Shield cap raised from 125 to 150 and removed for Full Overlight

- Dive will no longer throw a user riding a Water Lord (unless it's alt-extended upon cast)

- Duplicated Apparition is now locked to Illusion and Arcane spells

- If you fall on the water before your first turn, you will now be healed to full health upon impact with the water

- Shock Bomb, Blood Lust, and Ferocious Strike are all now available turn 1

- Added "Ghosting": Banish/border hopping will create no collision zones until the affected creature moves

- Storm Shield knockback will now throw you the opposite way of the map border if it is directly in the middle (such as coming through a portal)

- Mechanical Arrow collision radius reduced

- Portal grabbing collision shape changed from being a circle to being a rectangle (so you can only portal grab at a diagonal angle)

- Monarchs are sinkable once again

- Dark Knight's Charge distance slightly increased


Additions:

- Two new additional beard slots (unlocked depending on your donator tier)

- Some new outfits

- Spectator Ship skins: Map dependent and/or random on Grassy Hills, more may be added in the future


Bug Fixes:

- A player in Shining Power will now fall if damaged and hits a ceiling and will move with an active protection shield (still won't fall obviously)

- Floating Castle sinking due to entangle will no longer raise back up before being destroyed

- Napalm won't all hit the caster when aimed up under certain conditions

- The multi-directional indictaor won't be shown for non-directional spells

- Fixed Mute/XP level account icons overlapping

- Clockwork Bomb will now cause entities to fall if it moves out from under them

- Fixed map spawns on Space Nexus

- Arrow keys on the Mac build should no longer input characters

- Fixed an issue with boar spectators positions

- Brine Bomb will now spawn brine every time it hits the water as intended

- Magical Barrier/Vortex will now check for Sanctuary on spawn

- Blood Mist now counts as a friendly spell for the Duplication armageddon

- Fixed a player in glide bouncing under certain circumstances

- In random spells, Ritual will check for wilds spells in user-specified restricted random spells as well (cannot be given if no other wild spell is present)

- Auto-mount will no longer show up for Water Lord (it only works for flying units)

- Stepping stone no longer uses Rock Slab's collider when removing effectors such as glyphs

- Fixed an issue with Santa's Magic + Arcane Gate + Arcane Elemental not protecting you 3 times from water damage

- Flip flopping no longer gets called twice on the owners turn (should fix a desync issue involving storm shield)

- Flip flopping while sunk will do nothing (instead of resyncing)

- Saving your spellbook mid game will no longer cause movement inputs

- Swapraoo now changes both creatures position at the same time so they will not affect each other with Storm Shield, Sanctuary, etc.

- Fixed an issue with outfits not being categorized correctly (Seasonal/Achievements etc.)

- Typing a team chat message containing a colon (:) will no longer cause it to be discarded

- MACAIR can no longer fly under the effects of the gravity debuff

- Alt-mounting will now cause creatures to fall

- Clicking on a bee will now select the hive

- Fixed a problem with Morning Sun not colliding with Pegasus on summon

- System chat messages will no longer be copied to your clipboard automatically


Changes:

- The replay menu now lists the replays in descending order

- Your clan rank is displayed in the context menu

- The Lightning Sword for the Arch Donator reward has been changed to better suit the game's style

September 2023 - v6.1b Hotfix[]

Balance updates:

- Abduction cooldown increased from 2 to 3

September 3, 2023 - v6.1[]

Additions:

- Added the ability to change the chat/lobby font within the custom color schemes feature

- From this patch onwards, holiday reward outfits will not be relocked each patch


Bug Fixes:

- Fixed a bug involving the Mark of Fame achievement being awarded to all participants in a free-for-all match that involved an Arcane Monster

- Fixed a bug where using Floating Castle caused the game to crash

- Fixed some broken chat links

- Adjusted the Snowy Hills & Character Creation music volume

- Increased the speed that a full Seas familiar user will move on the water when utilizing Clock Tower in the water

- Minion book level 3's will now show up for spectators

- Fixed various spectator inconsistencies

- Sanctuary will now clear the gravity debuff properly

- Abduction will now set off effectors (Napalm, Devil's Snare, etc.)

August 20, 2023 - v6.0[]

Balance updates:

- Barrage of Bones no longer clips into players/minions

- Color Spray and Swaparoo traded places in the Book of Illusion: Color Spray is now the level 1 spell to Swaparoo.

- Color Spray base damage increased from 50 to 60

- Leap and Ferocious Strike traded places: in the Book of The Wilds: Leap is now the level 1 spell to Ferocious Strike.

- Movement with Leap will no longer trigger bounce from spell knockbacks

- Ritual Leap cooldown increased from no cooldown to 1 turn cooldown

- Ferocious Strike knocback and cutout radius increased

- Ferocious Strike initial cooldown increased from turn 1 to turn 2

- Spear Throw damage reworked to now be based off of distance travelled (25-75 damage based on short-medium range), was previously 75 damage regardless of distance

- Cosmic Horror's health reduced from 100 to 75

- Limit for amount of swarms that a player can have at a time increased from 1 to 2

- Kraken will no longer give health from Dark Defenses or Blood Pact

- Magical Barrier/Vortex are now dispelled by Sanctuary for consistency reasons

- Hydrated Water Trolls will no longer attack allies (was previously a full seas perk)

- Paladin weight increased to heavy and its jump is now similar to man-trap and other medium-weight minions

- Wild Mushrooms no longer heal a player in Werewolf form for double unless the player using mushrooms has the spell ritualed

- Abduction reworked: Can only use on minions, but only has a 2 turn cooldown

- Blood Clot will no longer latch onto friendly units

- Reduced the range of Disruption's shards, which may make it more confined

- Summoning a level 3 dragon while holding alt will now make you auto-mount (Cannot already be mounted)

- Ocean Floor's clams armageddon no longer targets the player, and now has brine rain only every 5th turn and clams increase every 10 turns

- Alien World armageddon now produces double the amount of shooting stars

- Directional aerials are always controllable in the Random Spells game mode (still not in standard 10s)

- The amount of turns that Devil's Snare lasts have been reduced from 5 to 4

- Devil's Snare damage buffed from 25 to 30 per snare

- Infection is now an arrow spell instead of being a targeted spell

- Random Spells will now only give the player Ritual if they have also gotten a spell from the Book of the Wilds


Additions:

- Added a chat option to toggle account icons

- Added a chat option to disable game invites, clan invites, started games, and created lobbies from showing up in the player's chat

- Added the ability to ignore someone for a specific time duration

- The achievement screen now shows which outfits become unlocked after completing an achievement

- Added confirmation boxes for leaving or resigning a game

- Added reward staff cosmetics for recent tournaments

- Clan logs will now show the server's date/time of the event

- Added additional safe guards for team lobbies which are non-shuffled


Bug Fixes:

- Fixed a potential freeze when the minion you're controlling dies and the next in line minion is uncontrollable

- Fixed a bug on mobile where non-turn ending spells would lock the angle of the spell's aim

- Fixed resync bugs with Blizzard, English Summer, Acid Rain, Soul Jar, and Devil's Snare

- Ghostly Halls armageddon will now properly validate spells such as Arcane Sigil and Minions

- Certain outfits will now show proper previews in the character creation

- Fixed a resync caused while moving MACAIR

- Fixed a bug that caused Butterfly Jar to become invincible

- Black Hole will now cause things to fall properly on cast

- The option to share a spellbook privately will now work properly

- Duplication now works in conjunction with The Wilds' familiar perk of extending a player's minion summoning range

- Illusion/Holiday will no longer change your size as a werewolf until it wears off

- Fixed Rampage/Charge/Mine not working properly when you're not the correct size

- Fixed an issue that prevented Mac users from being able to verify their accounts through Discord

- Fixed Spirit Owl not summoning Alpha Wolf when conditions were valid


Removed Features:

August 2023 - v5.9b Hotfix[]

Balance updates:

- Whisper Arrow damage reduced from 65 to 60

- Whisper Bomb damage reduced from 50 to 45

May 23, 2023 - v5.9[]

Balance updates:

- Adjusted how Mud Ball is created (should be more like OG)

- Adjusted Water Ball

- Vine Whip knockback strength buffed

- Wind is now off by default, and can be enabled manually in settings

- Adjusted Tentacle Smash slightly

- Bounce is only triggered from spell knockback, rather than user input

- Flame shield lasts 2s instead of 3s

- Directional aerials in 10s or less are no longer controllable (specified in spell description)

- Blizzard's snow damage reduced from 5 per snow to 2, but produces twice as much snow

- Bear's provoke passive is now capped at a maximum of double damage

- Nature's Wrath made a little easier to traverse near the base and it will only affect you if your moving closer to it

- Cosmos tower is immune to Quake (reason: it can move side to side, not because it's flying)

- Jungle Armageddon changed from Dark Totem to Summon Wolf: The wolves do not take up minion slots, cannot be controlled, are arcane minions, and have the collision box of a phantom.

- Dark Fortress Armageddon changed from Rain of Fire to Dark Totem


Additions:

- New Map: Ghostly Halls. Armageddon for the map is Duplication. Assets for the map created by Strelizia

<.> Duplication will only cast level 1 spells before turn 20, level 1 & 2 spells before turn 30, and level 3 spells after turn 40

<.> Will never cast Flight, Ice Shield, Lichdom, Shining Power, Invulnerability Shield, Vine Bloom, Nature's Wrath, Glide, Apparition, Ritual, Werewolf

Balance Updates:

- Water ball should behave more like it did in 2021.

- Acorn reworked: Now spawns a beehive the first time it grows (assuming no other entity is blocking it and you have an open minion slot).

<.> The beehive spawns 1 bee a turn (assuming it can) (max 3 at any time).

<.> Bees have 1 health, can only be controlled as a group (hive mind), act like a swarm (10 damage), and get stunned after damaging a unit.
