The Preliminary Circuit: 60s Murky Swamp tournament is the second of two season 15 tournaments hosted by the official Arcanists 2 Discord Server. It is the sixth and final tournament in the preliminary circuit, a 6-tournament circuit which will be held to calibrate a future system built around tournament ELO.

Format

  • 44 total participants.
• Group Stage
  • 4 players per group.
  • Top 3 players from each group advance to the knockout stage.
  • All matches are BO1.

• Knockout Stage
  • Double Elimination Knockout Stage.
  • All Winner's Bracket games are BO3.
  • All Loser's Bracket games are BO1, except for the Loser's Bracket Finals, which is BO3.
  • Grand Finals is BO5, with Winner's Bracket finalist given first turn advantage for Games 1 & 3.

Seeding

The first factor in seeding was based on the time zones of the participants. Participants indicated upon signing up for the tournament whether their time zone was closest to the North America (NA), Europe (EU), or Australia (AUS). Afterwards, the participants were placed into groups based on their selected time zone.

The second factor in seeding was based on a soft rating split of 1250. If players fit this criteria, they generally were placed in pool 2. There were other factors that determined players' placement as well, most notably whether the player is a long-time veteran of the game or not. After the pools are set up, players from pool #2 will be placed in groups in a way that they are guaranteed to play one another for the group stage.

The third and final factor in seeding was based on tournament ELO in the 30s+ category. Out of the participants who registered, the top 9 players based off of tournament ELO in the 30s+ category were split into different groups from each other, with the time zone factor still being in consideration for group placements. The only exception to this rule was within the EU group placements, due to 4 of the top 9 players in tournament ELO having signed up being from EU, and group sizes being only 4 players per group. This is the first time that tournament ELO was factored into seeding in the history of Arcanists 2 tournaments.
